The Specification Service
The exact appliances, makes and models fit for your home and more importantly, your lifestyle.
Our Approach
We're a design studio in New York that regularly helps clients choose the best appliances, wellness and fitness equipment, bathroom fixtures, and the other key investments for living well.
Now we're offering the same service virtually, for clients anywhere who share that commitment. From circadian lighting systems to cold plunges, we know the right vendors and models for your project.
How it works
1. Book a 30-minute scoping call. Tell us the rooms, the stage you're at, and what you're hoping to choose. You'll have a fixed price before you commit.
2. Send your plans, and a little about how you live. Everything we need is listed below. Your two weeks start once we have it. Most specifications cost $2,000 - 4,000.
3. We do the research. We match each piece to your plans, your utilities and the way your household runs, and we check that it will fit, connect, and be delivered where you live.
4. We walk you through it. Within two weeks, you'll receive the written specification, and we'll go through it together on a forty-five-minute video call. Bring your questions, and your builder too, if you'd like. You'll keep the recording.
What you get
A written specification for each room, listing every item's make, model, quantity and finish, with a sentence on why it earned its place. It's organized so your builder or purchasing agent can order straight from it.
You'll also get a forty-five-minute walkthrough call and its recording, so the reasoning travels with the document. You or your builder buy everything, which means we can work with you anywhere and take no markup on what we recommend. The only reason we name a product is that it's right for your home.
What we need from you
A good specification starts with accurate plans. The more we can see now, the fewer surprises your builder finds later.
A dimensioned floor plan of each room, as a PDF or CAD file, with ceiling heights
Photos or a short video walkthrough, if the space already exists
What you know about the utilities: gas or electric cooking, electrical panel capacity, and where water and drains can run. Saunas, steam showers, cold plunges and heavy fitness equipment each have their own power, plumbing, ventilation or floor-load needs, and these are much easier to plan before construction.
Anything you're keeping, and anything you've already ordered
Contact details for your builder or architect, if you have one
A few sentences on how you live: who cooks, how often you entertain, and how you'd like the house to feel at the end of the day
If you don't have drawings yet, start with the Floorplan Review.
