Chelsea Walk-in Closet

This 108-square-foot second bedroom in a Chelsea co-op was once allocated to a home office for a couple. With a return to in-person work, the room’s function no longer aligned with the client’s lifestyle. Rather than allow the space to drift into storage overflow, we redefined it entirely.

The transformation centered on fully custom, all-wood millwork fabricated locally, integrating sixteen drawers, precision shelving, concealed compartments, and open display storage for immediate visual access.

Integrated lighting was embedded into the cabinetry to create soft, directional illumination that supports dressing at any hour. Full-height mirrors expand the perceived footprint. Side seating introduces comfort without sacrificing spatial efficiency.

The result is a walk-in closet that feels architecturally embedded into the apartment of the primary bedroom.
